This new 18×24 original oil painting features a magnificent Brown Pelican. It is part of my series, The Water’s Edge, which highlights Threatened, Endangered, and protected birds that depend on coastal areas as well as other bodies of water for their survival. Painted on a deep cradled wood panel with finished edges, it is wired and ready to hang.
The Brown Pelican is a conservation success story. Due to conservation efforts, they were removed from the Endangered species list in 2009. They are still protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, and although they continue to face challenges, the population is closely monitored to ensure continued success.
